Most of humanity has been eradicated, their bodies and minds taken over by a mysterious and unstoppable force as it hunts down the last survivors. The sounds of a misplaced step, opening a door too quickly, a gasp of fear; any noise will get you killed... or worse. One lone survivor Paul has learnt to get by in this new world. To eat, to sleep and to move in absolute silence. But facing up to the solitary and hopeless future that awaits him and deprived of human connection, he sets the stage for one last-ditch effort to regain his own humanity. As he carries out his plan Paul reflects on those friends he's lost along the way, picturing how each of their unique human flaws might have led to their demise. We see Danny, who couldn't resist the temptation to see his family's faces again via pictures on his smartphone; Ian whose childhood led him astray and Ashley whose protective nature could never have let him suffer alone; Richard and Cassie whose lust for life (and each other) was too much to ignore; Conrad who failed to hold onto his grip on reality; and Julia, survivalist equal to Paul and all the more smart to realise life was no longer worth living. Now all that's left for Paul is to take control of his own fate. To escape the dark forces pursuing him might be impossible, but to maintain his humanity to the very end is something worth fighting for.
